When I first heard “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye (video here), I loved it. Then I started to hate it from overexposure and because I realized it’s a little bit grating upon multiple listens.
Now? I’m starting to like it again, though it doesn’t have anything to do with the song itself but rather that strong stream of sports-related parodies that has continued with the one below.
First it was “Some Kobe That I Used To Know” and now we have “Some QB That I Used To Know,” which Colts fans especially should find enjoyable…and perhaps even a little sad.
Bravo!
I laughed out loud several times during the first verse. The line about Ryan Leaf is classic, and the inclusion of the audio from Peyton Manning’s farewell press conference was perfect.
The second verse wasn’t quite as strong, but the picture they used of John Elway cracked me up.
Plus, staring at an attractive female is always better than a doughy Gotye look-alike, so the second verse was good in its own right.
What do you think? Like/dislike?
And which one do you like better: this one or the Kobe Bryant one? I say this one because it is more true to the original video, and the lyrics are more clever overall.
